There Marijuana light  and classic it is obtained from the dried leaves of the female hemp: in fact the cannabis plant is dioecious that is it has two distinct genres, the male and the female.

Very often the males are used to cross and pollinate the female plants and from the mariuana seeds a new variety of plant is obtained, different from the male and female ones that created them. By different we mean different active ingredients.

The best known active ingredient in Marijuana is THC but CBD should not be underestimated either.

The two can be more or less present depending on the variety of the plant: in the classic THC is high, in the legal herb the percentage is very low (while CBD is present in large quantities).

In fact, in recent years many varieties of cannabis and marijuana treated in the right way and with the percentages required by law have been legalized in many parts of the world.

Their legalization has been made possible thanks to medical research that has highlighted many healing and therapeutic qualities for different pathologies.

The most important and well-known diseases that are cured or at least alleviated thanks to the intervention of cannabis are the following:

psychiatric disorders such as depression,
multiple sclerosis,
anorexia being this plant a strong appetite stimulant,
asthma due to its bronchodilator effects
Furthermore, in Alzheimer's it slows down the progression of the disease and in Parkinson's it alleviates its symptoms.

There are three large varieties of cannabis and therefore also of Marijuana: they differ both in the concentration of active ingredients and in the diversity of the plant.

The three cannabis strains are called sativa, indica and ruderalis.

Types of cannabis

Sativa hemp is grown mainly for textile use, for construction use and for the production of paper.

Even in this type of hemp, even if not in large quantities, there are amazing substances and active ingredients. Hemp sativa plants can grow up to five meters high and have leaves up to 10 centimeters long.

Hemp indica, also known by the name of Indian hemp, does not differ much from sativa hemp for the uses that are made of it.

But the plant, the leaves and the percentage of amazing substances and active ingredients it contains are very different between the two types of hemp.

Ruderalis hemp was first discovered and studied in the early 1900s and its plants were first found in central Russia.

Cannabis ruderalis is very low and its leaves much smaller than hemp and indica hemp.

Compared to other types of hemp, this plant manages to grow in a harsh climate and can also be weed if it has no other nearby plants.

Its THC percentage is very low and its use is mainly to cross the other two types of hemp to obtain a type that contains the main characteristics of the two crosses, always leaving sativa or indica hemp as predominant.

The substantial differences between Marijuana sativa and Marijuana indica can be many.

Here they are listed below.

Morphology of the various types of marijuana
The first difference that strikes us immediately, if we were to have the chance to see it, is precisely the plant.

Cannabis sativa has a very tall, slightly branched plant, with very narrow and lighter colored leaves, indica cannabis has a much lower plant, is densely branched and has wider leaves.

Marijuana sativa is always grown outside also for the size of the plant itself while Marijuana indicates it is also possible to grow it inside.

Effects of different types of cannabis
The effects of the two types of Marijuana are very different.

Marijuana sativa has a reviving effect, awakens creativity and can sometimes have hallucinogenic effects.

Marijuana indica instead has a relaxing and calming effect, produces extreme muscle relaxation with the appearance of shaking and tingling in some parts of the body. It is recommended for night use.

Geographical origin of the two plants
Another difference that can occur between the two largest groups of Marijuana is the geographical origin.

Marijuana sativa is indicated as having a European origin while Marijuana indicates or Indian, as the name also says, has an Indian and therefore Eastern origin.

Genetics of marijuana plants
The last important difference between the two types of Marijuana is the genetic one, on which the production of THC and CBD depends.

The cannabis plants that produce the most THC are the plants considered sativa while the plants that produce the highest percentages of CBD are those of hemp.

As we mentioned earlier, hemp plants can be male or female.

These are practically identical in the first six weeks of life, after which they take their identity and we can recognize and separate them to avoid pollination (and therefore vary its THC values).

Male marijuana plant

Male marijuana differs from female in its thicker stems in that the plant is tall and the stem must be able to support the weight.

Furthermore, the male plant has few leaves compared to the female.

This plant at the junction points between the stems and the main stem forms balls. Once matured, the balls will become flowers that release pollen to pollinate the female plant.

If it does not find a plant to pollinate nearby, it produces seeds.

Usually to ensure a good harvest these balls are removed from the plants. If, on the other hand, our aim is to reproduce the plant or create crosses, we must leave the flowers attached.

This plant is mainly cultivated for the production of seeds because the leaves have a very low THC and CBD content. This means that cultivation must always be done far from female Marijuana plants.

Female marijuana plant

The female Marijuana plant compared to the male one is also very different from the eyes.

Looking at her, she looks much more delicate just like a woman; its stems are much thinner, the lower plant and the leaves in far greater numbers than the male plant.

In the branching of the stems, the female Marijuana plant has drop-shaped pods full of translucent hair.

Basically we find them in the same place where in the male we find the balls with pollen, but in this case these pods are not harmful to the female plant.

The female plant is the only one that manages to produce THC and CBD, but only if it is not pollinated.

After reading this article we are sure that you have much clearer ideas about the various types of cannabis, all the types of the plant and their differences.
